Get ready for Transistors

Today we continued with the oscilliscope/function generator lab work.

Homework is Chapter 30 - to prepare us for tomorrows lecture on Transistors.

NOTE, CAUTION, BE WARNED!
Be sure to revise the introduction to Transistors in Chapter 28, starting on page 859, or Chapter 30 will make little sense to you!

For your information:
Did you know, Intel's Pentium 4 chip (2.8 GHz, 32-bit) contains 55 million transistors and uses 68.4 Watts of power?
By contrast, the IBM PowerPC (1.8 GHz, 64-bit) chip, used in new Apple iMac's, only uses 52 million transistors and 42 watts of power. For raw speed, the PPC beats the Intel chip at many functions.

The next generation XBox from Microsoft will use this chip.
